New Leadership Consultants Hit the Road
Updates from Lexington
A new class of Leadership Consultants joined the General Fraternity staff and have already wrapped up their first semester on the road visiting all of Sigma Nu’s chapters and colonies. The following five outstanding men join returning Leadership Consultants Adam Girtz (North Dakota State), Gabriel Castro (Jacksonville), and Tre Nelson (Northwestern State).
Rhys Collins (East Carolina)
Rhys graduated from East Carolina University in May 2019 with a degree in music education.
As a member of the Eta Beta Chapter, Rhys served as Commander, Social Chairman, Homecoming Chairman, and IFC President for his community. He also served as one of four undergraduates on the Chancellor’s Greek Life Task Force and the Chancellor’s Round Table. In these positions, Rhys devoted his time to making sure that not only his Sigma Nu brothers, but all Greek students were advocated for.
Rhys enjoys playing ice hockey, and even played for four years on ECU’s club team. He likes to spend his free time working out, playing Xbox, and listening to music. Following his time on staff, Rhys plans to serve in the Navy and eventually teach high school band.
David Dearing (Birmingham-Southern)
David graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in business marketing and a minor in political science.
During his time in the Lambda Theta Chapter, David served as Commander, Historian, Interfraternity Council Representative, and was involved in various committees. Outside of Sigma Nu, he was a Southern Ambassador, Orientation Team member, Stump Entrepreneurship Scholar, 2018 Hess Fellow, and Vice President of Circle K International service club.
Originally hailing from Fairhope, Alabama, David enjoys following politics, traveling, cooking, attending concerts, and hiking. After his time on staff, David intends to continue his education with an MBA and pursue a career in real estate development, with an emphasis in historic preservation.
Austin Lloyd (Arkansas – Fort Smith)
Austin graduated from the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith in December 2018 with a degree in animation technology.
During his time in the Nu Alpha Chapter he served as Recorder, Marshal, and Recruitment Chairman, as well as serving on numerous other committees. Outside of Sigma Nu, he was a two-term President of the Student Government Association, New Greek Member of the Year, and Greek Man of the Year. He also served as a Resident Assistant and as the Alcohol and Drugs Awareness Chair for his university’s peer education program.
Austin is originally from Pearland, Texas, a suburb in the Houston area. He enjoys traveling, watching a variety of sports, and spending time outdoors.
Joey Rizzo (South Florida)
Joey graduated from the University of South Florida in May 2019 with a degree in finance.
During his time in the Theta Alpha Chapter, Joey served as Lt. Commander and Recorder, as well as being a part of the chapter’s homecoming committee. Outside of Sigma Nu, he has participated in USF’s yearly Stampede of Service to help underprivileged communities in the greater Tampa Bay area and previously worked for a local political campaign.
Born and raised in Central Florida, Joey’s hobbies vary from fishing to hiking and just about anything that includes the outdoors. He is a huge Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Boston Red Sox fan, but enjoys following all professional sports. After his time on staff he would like to either move back to Florida and find a position in the finance field or continue his education.
Anthony Tornini (Central Oklahoma)
Anthony graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in December 2018 with degrees in criminal justice (police) and forensic science.
During his time in the Mu Tau Chapter, Anthony served as Lt. Commander, Treasurer, LEAD Chairman, Recruitment Chairman, House Manager, and Homecoming Chairman. He also served on his chapter’s judicial board and the IFC judicial board. He was recognized by his chapter with the Most Active Member and Officer of the Year awards. Outside of the Fraternity, Anthony interned as a development and education intern with the YWCA of Oklahoma City and was also recognized for his leadership by the University of Central Oklahoma.
Anthony is originally from Houston, Texas, but has lived most of his life in Edmond, Oklahoma. In his free time, he enjoys attending car shows and going to the shooting range. Following his time on staff, Anthony hopes to become a member of the law enforcement community and one day work with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
