2017 College of Chapters - Day Three
Features
Follow along for the final day of the Legion of Honor's premier leadership experience, capped off with a keynote from Bill Courtney (Mississippi) who was featured in the Academy Award winning documentary "Undefeated."
Throughout the day brothers take moments to share best practices, stories, and a few laughs.
Goal setting, delegation, roster, and finances are the key topics covered during the morning Core Sessions.
Throughout the course of College of Chapters participants create an action plan unique to their chapter starting with a vision statement.
"During the past few days I've learned that a lot of chapters are going through the same issues we are and I found a good support system to work through some of these similar problems." - Marquis Woods (George Washington)
A quick moment to recharge the batteries and refuel the tanks before going back to work.
"If you surround yourself by people who look just like you, think just like you, and believe like you then every conversation you have is in a vacuum." - Bill Courtney (Mississippi), the final keynote speaker for College of Chapters.
At the closing general session Sigma Nu Educational Foundation Board (SNEF) Chairman Al Wurster (Purdue) and Regent Lee Perrett (Auburn) introduce the newly appointed Collegiate Grand Councilmen and SNEF collegiate board members. Ryan Bell (Auburn), Andrew Benjamin (Kennesaw State), Connor Ganly (Butler), and Otha "Tre" Nelson (Northwestern State) will serve as the new Collegiate Grand Councilmen while Benson Hull (Washington State) and Clyde Yelverton (Alabama) will serve as the new SNEF collegiate board members.
Regent Lee Perrett (Auburn) closes out the last general session with a reminder to the attendees that Founders Hopkins, Riley, and Quarles were the first three links in the long chain of the Legion of Honor that spans across the globe and is over 225,000 initiates strong.
At the last Chapter Session the attendees put marker to poster and make a commitment by transcribing their vision, strategies, and goals to their action plans to take back to their chapters and guide their term in office.
This is the purpose of College of Chapters, to empower our chapter leaders to guide their chapters to reach their full potential.
"My big takeaway was that there’s a common thread through all of our chapters despite size, location, or other differences. We are all Knights of the Legion of Honor and we are all committed to Love, Honor, and Truth." - William Archer (Pennsylvania)
We couldn't have said it better ourselves and on that note the 2017 College of Chapters is in the books. We look forward to seeing what these amazing Knights can accomplish this year leading their chapters to Excel with Honor.
