Legacy Information for Alumni
Referring a Legacy
The Legion of Honor is always looking to connect fathers and sons, uncles and nephews, grandfathers and grandsons, and brothers through membership in Sigma Nu. Below is a short list of how to most effectively submit information about a legacy member.
Fill out a Membership Referral Form and the General Fraternity will forward that information to the correct chapter officers and follow up to verify it has been received.
- Email us at headquarters@sigmanu.org requesting information for the chapter you would like to contact.
- Contact the chapter directly to discuss the legacy and learn how that chapter runs its recruitment process.
We recommend beginning this process during the spring prior to the legacy entering his institution since many chapters around the country start fall recruitment at the beginning of the calendar year. Should you have any questions, please contact us at headquarters@sigmanu.org or by phone at 540-463-1869.
What is a Legacy?
A legacy is defined by The Law of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. as the son, grandson, nephew, great-nephew or brother of an initiated member of the Fraternity.
Do legacies automatically receive a bid?
Membership in Sigma Nu Fraternity is not guaranteed to anyone. However, legacies are reviewed differently than other prospective members as described by The Law of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc.
There are few better ways to help carry the Legion of Honor into the next generation than referring those who have already seen the dynamic of living a life by the principles of Love, Honor, and Truth.
Thank you for helping us add to the over 240,000 initiated members of the Legion of Honor.
