Maury D.Gaston
Regent (Ex-Officio)
Maury Gaston currently serves as Regent of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Maury is a native of Sylacauga, Alabama, and an initiate of the Beta Theta chapter at Auburn University, where he was graduated in 1982 in mechanical engineering. As a collegian, Maury served as Recorder and Treasurer and received the chapter’s E. Meade Wilson award, “presented to the brother who best exhibits service and love to the Fraternity.” In 2013, the chapter established the Maury D. Gaston award for the chapter member who “left the chapter better than he found it.”
After 15 years out of state with his employer in New York, Florida, California, and Texas, Maury returned home and became engaged in Beta Theta’s House Corporation. He then served as Deep South Alpha Division Commander and Grand Chaplain prior to his election as Vice Regent in 2014. He was selected House Corporation Officer of the Year in 2007 and Division Commander of the Year in 2012.
Professionally, Maury has spent his entire career with AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe, a manufacturer of iron and steel products for the water and energy industries. He also serves as Chairman of the Alabama Iron and Steel Council, is Director and past Chairman of the state of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame, and is a past chair of the Auburn University Alumni Engineering Council.
Maury comes from a Greek family. His parents and both brothers, his in-laws, wife, and daughter are all Greek. Maury’s father, brother, and three nephews are Beta Theta chapter brothers, and his father-in-law and brother-in-law are Theta chapter initiates.
Regent Gaston resides in the Mountain Brook community of the Birmingham, Alabama area.
