Lexington, Va. – Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. was notified earlier tonight of a developing situation at the chapter house of the Iota Nu Chapter at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Maine. Information available to the Fraternity at this time indicates that the situation has been peacefully resolved by officials on the scene.
"We are grateful to all who contributed to the peaceful resolution of this situation, especially the officers on the scene. We are also grateful for the exceptional level of support being provided by the University of Southern Maine. We will remain in close communication with University officials and local alumni and collegiate leaders in the days ahead as further information regarding this incident becomes available,” said Brad Beacham, executive director of Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Headquartered in Lexington, Va., Sigma Nu Fraternity was founded in 1869 at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington and currently has169 active chapters and colonies on college campuses throughout the United States.
