Lexington, Va. – Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. was notified Sunday, January 19, that officials in Lincoln, Nebraska, including University of Nebraska administrators, took action to remove student residents from the chapter house of the Delta Eta Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. This action was taken after officials responded to an alarm from the facility Sunday afternoon and encountered conditions in the facility that caused concerns about the safety of the residents.
"Sigma Nu Fraternity is deeply concerned by this situation and fully supports the action taken by local officials to ensure the safety of student residents. We appreciate the University's work to find alternative housing for the student residents. We are in communication with University officials and alumni leaders and took action yesterday to suspend the activities of the Delta Eta Chapter pending an investigation of these matters," said Brad Beacham, executive director of Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Headquartered in Lexington, Va., Sigma Nu Fraternity was founded in 1869 at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington and currently has169 active chapters and colonies on college campuses throughout the United States.
