Florida State Charter Suspended

Lexington, Va. –Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. has suspended the charter of the Zeta Zeta Chapter atFlorida State University. The decision to suspend the charter, made by the Fraternity’s board ofdirectors (High Council), followed confirmation of violations of the Fraternity’s law, policiesand principles as well as violations of the policies of Florida State University. The violationswere related to a recent unauthorized social activity and included the misuse of alcohol.
“Sigma Nu regrets the loss of the Zeta Zeta Chapter. However, in keeping with our mission tobuild ethical leaders, the Fraternity cannot tolerate repeated violations of its law, policies andprinciples,” said Executive Director Brad Beacham. “For more than 60 years Sigma NuFraternity has supported the growth and development of students at Florida State University. Wewill work with Zeta Zeta alumni leaders, University officials and student leaders to re-establishthis legacy of leadership at Florida State in the future. We are grateful for our strong partnershipwith Florida State University and we appreciate the University’s continuing support.
